Are They Ready For This?

Renee closed her eyes for a minute and thanked the Lord for allowing her and the others to see his creation from this view. As the wind blew against her body and face Renee looked out over the world below her. “Wow” she shouted even though no one could hear her.
Three weeks earlier Ryan had came up with the idea but it took both his and Becca full pressuring for Renee to buy into the idea.
“It will be great and the look on everyone’s face when we get there will be worth the time and money" they both said.
Renee was not worried about the money or the time; it was the fear of flying that had Renee questioning the idea. “What happens if the motor quits or lighting strikes the plane” she tossed out her defense but each time Ryan or Becca would just say that the Lord would watch over them. Finally after three days of constant badgering Renee gave in and the next day the training started. Two weeks of flights and classroom training and finally the time came, Ryan, Renee and Becca stood at the door of the plane looking down at the ground below, the class instructor stood before them and gave them each a thumbs up when the signal light switched from red to green.

“Ready… Go” the instructor shouted over the sound of the wind rushing passed the doorway.

Ryan with a smile as big as the Grand Canyon turned and looked at the two girls behind him then he faced forward and leaped out the door. Becca was next, she turned and gave Renee a quick hug then she too leaped out the door. Renee for the first time felt alone. Her brother and best friend just jumped out of a plane and she was next.
The instructor scented the hesitation and took his camera and took Renee picture. “When you get on the ground you will laugh at this photo for years to come. Your kids will be proud of you too.”
That is when Renee remembered that she would not be having kids because the Lord was taking them home soon. Renee smiled and thanked the Lord then stepped up to the door and fell forward.

The instructor followed her out and as they fell showed Renee how to catch up with her friends. As the group came together, the three of them made a circle holding hands, the instructor flu off to the side taking pictures of the group.
It was now time to separate and pull their release cords. Each member squeezed the other ones hand then let go and flew about 200 feet apart. The altimeter needle reached the green safety mark and the friends together pulled the cord releasing their parachutes.

Looking down they could see the three white crosses in the grass on the side of the runway. Now that they knew that their chutes had opened and they were falling safety they turned their thoughts over to getting the closes to their assigned cross. Ryan was a few feet below the others so he hit first just missing his cross by 10 feet then tumbled. Renee was on target but at the last second she felt the wind moving her to the left so she pulled to the right and she landed about fifteen feet off mark. Becca who felt most of ease with the whole flying idea relaxed as she got closer to the mark. She remembered the instructor telling them to line up then to relax and don’t over correct. Like a bird landing on a wire, Becca hit the cross dead center.

“Wow, awesome” they all shouted to each other as they hugged. They did it, they free fell for the first time. The instructor had said they needed to get at least ten jumps in to be certified in jumping anywhere so the following week, each day they did two jumps. On Sunday, they pulled away from the airport with paperwork stamped that they could fly and safety jump freely.

Ryan who was the youngest of the three bowed his head and thanked the Lord for allowing the plan to work and ask him to help him with the next step… Getting them to Oklahoma.

“Look I know it will work and save us a lot of time” Ryan stated

“But we don’t know the area at all, remember Bob at our class saying that we need to have the wind speed and direction before jumping or we might find ourselves miles away from were we want to be.” Recca answered getting up from the table.

“We have a phone number; I say we call the day before flying down there making sure someone will be there. We can call again and get the wind information when we are one hour out.”

“I thought we wanted to surprise them how are we going to ask them for that without tipping them off?” Renee asked

“Guess you will have to ask in your cool voice” Ryan added with a smile

“What are we going to do about your uncle, I don’t see him being happy that you two are leaving, he still wants your money remember?” Recca asked as she returned to the table

Renee thought for a second, “I think we need to just leave without telling him. But first we open up an account and drop enough money in it in case he gets some lawyer to stop Grandpa Will and when do we leave?”

Ryan was quick on that with his answer “Tomorrow if at all possible”

“Tomorrow; we have to pack, wash clothes, shop for something’s and set up the account, I was thinking maybe next week” Renee replied

“You got the money why not buy once we are there that would save us the packing and shopping, we could hit the bank this afternoon” Becca stated

“You want to leave right away too?”

“Oh yes, I’m with Ryan I think as soon as we get out of here the better, I don’t have anything and I feel bad having you two spend you money on me, I think that once we are out there I can maybe do my share.”

Renee reached over and hugged Becca, “You are my best friend and sister, what belongs to me is yours, I don’t care if its one dollar or a trillion dollars, I would share it all with you.”

“Me too, Bec since I can remember you have always been a part of the family. Heck back when I was a dumb kid I had a crush on you so bad but I knew I could say or do anything cause you are family”

Both girls looked at Ryan, “You had a crush on me? Why didn’t you say anything?”

Ryan realized he goofed and said something he wished he had not of said. “I was a kid back then I had crushes on a lot of girls.”

“Back then, your only 17 now” Renee replied

“Ya well your only 18 and Becca is 19 that is only two years” Ryan said with a bright red face. “Can we get back to getting out of here?”

“Yes we need to figure out how and when we are leaving” Becca answered in Ryan defense.

The three of them sat at the table making plans on the flight and what they needed to take. Even though Ryan and Renee let the comment of Ryan liking Becca slip by, Becca in the back of her mind smiled as her heart picked up its pace.
After an hour, the three of them drove down to the bank and opened an account in all three names. This way in case something happened to the other two, the third one had access to the money. Renee had called their lawyer who was handling the estate matters and informed him. He was a good man who Grandpa trusted so they did as well.

Next they called and got a flight out the following morning. It was not a direct flight but what could go wrong with a one hour delay in St Louis. The three teenagers were getting excited the last thing they did was stop off at the airport were they had taken skydiving lessons and bought themselves new chutes.
When they got home, Renee tried calling their friend Shade but nobody answered so she had to leave a message.

"Hey guys this is Renee calling from Maine, hope you all remember us. We were just calling to see how everyone is doing and miss you all. Call us back when you can, love ya."

On the Ranch

They were leaving tomorrow. She had been anxious to get back to Oklahoma City. She hadn’t taken a chance to kill the old lady while at the ranch, there were too many people too close together.
She thought she was doing a pretty good job at faking this Christian thing. No one suspected her to be anything other than sincere.

She let out a laugh. These people had to be the stupidest people she had ever met. She had listened to them doing their Bible study and even been able to contribute to the discussion. Yep, she had all of them fooled.
She walked past the phone and saw the light blinking on the answering machine. Looking around she pressed the play button.

"Hey guys this is Renee calling from Maine, hope you all remember us. We were just calling to see how everyone is doing and miss you all. Call us back when you can, love ya."

With a smile she pressed the delete button.

Back home Renee, Ryan and Becca packed small personal items in a carry on bag. After that, it was study their bibles then go to bed, they had to be at the airport at 5am so they wanted to get some sleep. Before lying down, Renee dialed Shade once again.

“Hello”
“Shade? This is Renee, remember me?”
“Well heck ya, how is it going, sorry about your Grandpa?”
“OK, we know he is with the Lord so we are doing fine, miss him though”
“I bet, we just got back from some work that needed to get do, how is Ryan and Becca doing?”
“Good I guess, you have not heard my message I left on the answering machine?”
“No not yet but I will when we hang up, so what’s up?”
“Oh nothing just calling to see how the weather is, you guys getting any storms?”
“Some but nothing we can’t handle, tomorrow and the weekend is going to be great, highs in the 70’s and little wind. Wish you all were here.”
“Well we miss you all as well, tell everyone hi for us and remember to keep looking up”
“That we will do, take care and stay in touch will you.”
“OK we will, talk to you later” Renee hung up the phone

“Everything OK” Becca asked seeing the tear in Renee eyes.

“Of fine, I just miss my Grandpa”

Both girls hugged then said good night. The tears continued to flow as Renee recalled her life. “Thank you Jesus and I am sorry I didn’t listen to you sooner.”

"Who was that?" Maddie asked.
"Renee. She just called to say hi." Shade said as he checked the answering machine. "Hmm. That's odd."
"What?" Maddie said as she finished wiping down the counter.
"Renee said she left us a message earlier but it's not here."
"Maybe she dialed a wrong number." Maddie patted Shade on the arm.
Shade picked up the phone and checked the caller ID log. "She did call." Shade showed Maddie.
"That's strange. Surely if someone had gotten the message thay would have told us." Maddie frowned.
"Maybe with everything going on it slipped their mind." Shade tilted his head.
"No. Maybe." Maddie looked confused. They didn't get alot of phone calls since the rapture, and the calls they did get were from fellow believers.
"I"ll ask Matt about it." Shade hung up the phone with a shrug. "You ready for Bible study?"
"Yes. Just let me a pitcher of tea out of the fridge and I'll be right there."
Shade left the room and almost ran into Lorna. "Oops. Sorry about that."
"That's ok. I was just coming to see if Maddie needed any help."
Maddie walked up carrying a pitcher of tea. "Here I am. Sorry, but I just can't leave the kitchen in a mess. It drives me crazy."
"That's ok. My mom was the same way." Lorna said.
Maddie smiled as Lorna turned and headed to the table where everyone waited to begin.
"She's a good girl that one." Maddie said.
Shade nodded as he took the pitcher from his wife. "They all are." But looking around the table Shade had a feeling. Something was off and he couldn't put his finger on what.

Michael felt dizzy. He had just taken more drugs. Now he sat on his bed, trying to stay steady and think…think…one time, Lisa had told him millions of people would disappear. He had asked her, “How would this come about?” “Jesus is going to do it…it’s called the rapture. How I long for that day!”

Is that what these disappearances were? Jesus snatching his followers into heaven. Is that what the Russian invasion of Israel was? God saving his people? Michael sat for a long time…and then he knew that he needed someone…or something. Michael took a deep breath.

Find Me Here
Speak To Me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
you are the light
that's leading me
to the place
where I find peace, again.

You are the strength, that keeps me walking.
You are the hope, that keeps me trusting.
You are the light, to my soul.
You are my purpose, you're everything.

Michael looked up and saw two things covered in black come in. In their hands were drugs and alcohol. They started to dance around Michael like madmen, torturing him, ripping skin off his flesh. He began to sob,

And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Suddenly, a flash of light appeared. The demons suddenly started moving quicker around Michael, as if taunting him. When the beautiful angel of light walked towards him, he thought he had a savior. Then Michael remembered what Lisa had told him, “For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” The angel suddenly took a hold of Michael’s neck and squeezed, as if trying to take the life out of him.

You calm the storms, and you give me rest.
You hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall.
You still my heart, and you take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?

Michael sadly sobbed, and whispered, “I want to die. Please kill me.”

And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Suddenly, a flash of blinding light appeared, and Satan tightened his grip. When the light cleared way, Michael saw who it was. It was Jesus.

Cause you're all I want, you're all I need
You're everything, everything
You're all I want, you're all I need
You're everything, everything.
You're all I want, you're all I need.
You're everything, everything
You're all I want, you're all I need.
You're everything, everything.

Jesus was suddenly in front of Michael, blocking the angel of light. He extended his hand towards Michael.

And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better, any better than this?

And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

After a moment of thought, Michael grabbed onto Jesus’ hand. He got off his bed and hugged his savior. “Thank you,” he whispered, tears rolling down his eyes, “Now I truly know who you are.”

After coming back from sea, Kenny opened the door to see his old friend Catherine. He smiled and blushed when she came in. “Hi,” he said, “Longtime no see.”

Raven watched as the president got ready for his press conference with the Mexican head of state and the Canadian head of state. Soon…soon it would be time to make his first kill in months…an attack against Teodor’s mom…and then Teodor.

The earth shook, thunder and lightening were coming in rapid succession, the wind howled, and now the rain was fiercely hitting the earth. Tom lay listening to the sounds of the night unable to close his eyes or fall asleep. His thoughts were racing about his time on earth and how he had wasted so much time not living his life for Christ. He had been the funeral director for 15 years and had been there to comfort those that were friends or just casual acquaintances when they had lost loved ones. He observed people as they peered into the open casket and mourned their loss. He now thought how the Father must have mourned the loss of a soul or rejoiced when a soul returned home. He had missed so many opportunities to witness, but now he could only think that he would soon be joining his Father in heaven. His body was growing weaker and he didn't know how much longer he could keep up the appearance that all was well. The cancer had been diagnosed over a year ago and for some reason, he had lived much longer than the doctors said he would. He now knew the reason he had been allowed to live was so he could know the Savior. Tears flowed down his face and he cried out, "Lord, thank you for giving me a chance to know You before this sickness claimed my life. Forgive me, Lord Jesus, for not turning to You so that my life on this earth would have made a difference. Forgive me for not hearing the Father's words and accepting them as truth. I long to be in Your presence and know the glory that awaits me there. Father, forgive me." His heart was heavy and he felt as though his chest was caving in. Suddenly he felt the presence of a hand on his. He looked to see Steven kneeling beside the cot his head bowed in prayer.
Steven raised his head and said, "My dear friend, how can I help you?"
"You can pray that this ends quickly and our friends are spared watching me die," Tom whispered.
"Why didn't you tell us? We would have prayed for you and tried to help in some way."
"I've known for a long time my time was short and I didn't want to burden anyone besides, I will be in a better place. The Lord allowed me enough time to finally call on Him and accept His salvation. I've known you since grade school and never called you, friend, but now I am honored to call you my friend. I have been given much in these last few months........."
Tom's voice weakened and he choked back the tears. "I'm not really sad, I'm just sorry I waited so long."
Tom closed his eyes and a smile appeared on his face. He could see the end coming and he was happy.

While all looked uneventful on this overcast spring morning. MD couldnt help but surrender to the stirring of his spirit. Something different but he just couldnt place it. In what seemed to be hours of sincere thought, MD had snapped back to reality when there was a knock on the door. Getting up to answer the door, he wondered to himself, who in the world would be knocking at our door in the middle of nowhere in upstate Michigan. Here we are in a remote location off of the beaten path and highly unusual that anyone unexpected would show up. Cautiously grabbing the door handle, MD opened the door and to his surprise stood a young boy in the entrance. "May I help you young man?" MD asked inquisitively.
"Hello, my name is Connor. I am looking for a guy named Bill."
"What is it that you want with Bill?" asked MD
"Well you see, I was hurt a couple of weeks ago and Bill saved my life. I wanted to thank him and also share something with him."
"Wow, your the kid Bill was telling us about? Well come on in, I'm sure he will be happy to see you."
MD grabbed the nearest intercom phone and paged Bill to the front office of the machine shop.
Moments later Bill arived and the look on his face was priceless as he quickly realized who the kid was standing there in front of him.

The boy ran staight to Bill and threw his arms around him, with tears in his eyes, he tells Bill. "Not only did you save my life, but the angel that took me from you has shown me some things that you must know. God put his healing hand on me and made my body all better, then the angel sent from God showed me how to ask Jesus into my heart. After getting Jesus in my heart, the angel then showed me some things about you, and about this shop. He told me that I must come here and help out. He also told me that you, Bill are my....."

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creepers creeping on the earth.
Gen 1:27 And God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female.

All the heavenly hosts eyes were on Jehovah. Today He had gathered clay from the Earth He had created. He formed man in His own image. Then He breathed the breath of life into him. In His eyes when He breathed that breath was love.

What was it about this creation that brought such love to Jehovah’s eyes? Lucifer ranted inwardly. Was he not the most beautiful of the angels? Was he not the most intelligent and powerful?
He looked around the rest of the angels. He was indeed the most beautiful he thought to himself. If not for Jehovah he would be the one they all worshipped and served. He would be the one they would bow to. If he could find a way to destroy Jehovah it would all be his.
Lucifer thought on this constantly. It was one day that Lucifer saw Jehovah walking in the garden with the man He had created that the idea came to him. It was brilliant. He could bring the Great Jehovah to His knees, and he would do it through the man He had created. Jehovah loved the man, oh how He loved him. He would do anything for the man, His love was so great. Even to the point of giving up His throne.
He would take His creation from Him. And so the plan to abduct mankind was born, and the way was obvious.

She jerked awake. Sitting up she pushed her hair back off her sweating face. The dream had been so real. As if she had been Lucifer himself as he plotted to exalt himself.
Her heart began to slow and she reached for the glass of water on the bedside table. Her hand brushed the glass and knocked it to the floor. Jumping from bed she rushed to get a towel. When she came back into the room she stopped in her tracks. The water had spread on the floor, and it looked like the body of a snake.
Shaking her head at herself she threw the towel onto the floor and used her foot to mop up the water. Kicking the towel into the corner, she sat on the edge of the bed.
She couldn’t let it get to her, she thought. The bible study last night had been about creation, that was all. That’s why she had the dream. That was the only explanation. She refused to believe anything else. She wasn’t going to be like everyone else here and use religion as a crutch.
Tomorrow they would head back to the city, and she could report back to Stephan, and when the time came she would kill the old lady. She would get the gang back together. All she had to do was get rid of the old lady and things would go back to the way they were before.

Babylon, Iraq

Brett Reed walked around the site surveying the work that had been done on one of the palaces that Sadam Hussein had built. During the first Gulf War it had been badly damaged, but today it stood again. It had taken only two months to restore the building to it’s former glory.
As Brett walked the site, he could feel beads of sweat roll down his spine. It was still early in Babylon, but the day promised to be unbearably hot. The average temperature this week had been 114, and today showed signs of being just as hot.
Brett stopped when he noticed a man lying on the ground and a guard standing above him. It had become standard procedure that any prisoner, from any country, if physically able was sentenced to hard labor in Babylon. It had been the Pontentate’s idea, using prisoners as labor. After all they were criminals who couldn‘t demand pay, and the world had a surplus of prisoners. It was another way to cut costs on the building of the new world capitol.
Brett headed toward the guard and the man on the ground. The guard took a step back as Brett approached. Brett noticed that the mans prison uniform was clean. Ahh, he thought. A newbie. “What seems to be the problem?” Brett asked.
