Engineman Gabi stood at attention outside the Captain cabin. Standing next to him was his Department Head and Leading Enlisted. This was Gabi second tour so he should have known better. Daniel sat at his desk trying to calm down, how could someone take a regulation like this and just toss it out and run the chance of endangering himself and each crew member.
As much as Daniel wanted to surface, place Gabi in a raft than send him to shore he couldn’t. No he had to deal with him and in a way that the rest of the crew understood the serious of this action.
“Cheng come in please” Daniel yelled
The Chief Engineer walked into the Captain’s stateroom and stood at attention awaiting his rear end to become mud.
“You have no idea what is happening. You might think you do as well as most of the crew but you don’t and I am not a liberty to tell you if I wanted it. The life of each member of this sub was in total danger. We were just seconds of becoming fish food and only by God’s Hand did we survive.” Daniel waited a second to let what he said to sink in.
He knew it was not Cheng’s fault but him being the department head he was the one getting the first reaming.
“First I want every filter from rudder oil filter to the bow nose filter changed before we get back into port and I want Engineman Gabi to ensure they are done. I am talking over 6oo some in places that only get opened once a year. I will be looking and inspection in the next couple of weeks and if I find one dirty that he claims to have changed, I will personally feed it to him. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes sir.”
“He is not to get any help from anyone so he better read up on his systems because I know where every filter is on board my sub.”
“Yes sir.”
“Next, I want him to think what his life is worth and what he feels the price on his shipmates is? He will tell me in person in a few weeks so while he is out changing filters he will have plenty of time to think about it.”
“Yes Sir”
“You get the word out to every human ear on board my sub that next time we go to silent running I better not hear a drop of water let alone a voice higher then a silent whisper.”
“Yes sir.”
“You dismissed”
The Cheng left the cabin grabbed Gabi by the ear and walked him down a few passageways before informing him what the Captain had said. He didn’t use the same words; the Cheng had more colorful words he used to get his point across and it took over five minutes. But the point was made and received.

The rest of the journey went smoothly, they had to dodge a few Iran naval vessels but at 03:54 26 hours after receiving the first Red Bird message the Samuel Of Ramah sat 45 feet below the surface on location Jericho Barak.
Daniel nodded at his Operation Officer who walked back to the Radio Control room and sent his first Red Bird Message.
RED BIRD TOP SECRET
0954634 0100300 009
FROM: SAMUEL OF RAMAH
TO: CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF
MESSAGE: ON LOCATION
End of message
The rest of the morning and into the next day all was quite. The next night the sub surfaced to recharge the fresh air and let each man see and taste the real world. Engineman Gabi stayed busy crawling back into small holes and under tables and equipment reaching for and replacing filters he never knew were there. Ten minutes before the sub was to re-submerge, Daniel sent word to Gabi to come up on the conning tower. Daniel had watched Gabi as he went about replacing the filters and knew even thou he told the crew no to assist they did anyway by pointing out where some might be found or pointed him to the right manual so he could find the location. Daniel had a good crew and he expected them to help because that is what shipmates did. They took care of their own.
Up on the Conning tower, Daniel asked Gabi if he had found the oil filter to the SR-45 radar coolant motor yet. Gabi answered no sir but he would look for it and find it if it was on board.
“Good man, when you find it let me see the filter before tossing it please.” Daniel asked.
“Yes Sir”
“Conn, take us down to 48 feet please” Captain Aviv said as he lowed himself down the hatch back into the skin of the ship.
The Conning Officer hit a button then spoke into a microphone, “Dive, Dive” slowly the dive planes turned out away from the body of the sub and started catching water. Within a few minutes the tower was the only thing above water but soon it too disappear into the dark blue water.

"Kristen?" Shade said softly.
Kristen rolled over in the bed and looked at the big man.
"I need for you to tell me the names of Mikey's friends. I want to make sure we don't allow any of them on the ranch ever again." he explained.
"But what if they are friends of yours?" Kristen asked.
"Kristen, I don't want to be friends with someone who abuses children. I had no idea about Earl Myers, but if I had, I would have beaten him to a pulp and turned him over to the police. If he survived." Shade added. "I would have done everything I could to protect you from him, Mikey and their friends." Shade said.
Kristen looked at the muscle jumping in Shade's cheek and realized the the big man was furious. Not at her, but for her.
"It's not your fault." Kristen said quietly.
"I know. But I still wish I had known. It makes me sick that those men hurt you. I've never been so angry in my life. I honestly believe I'm capable of murder. I'm not proud of it either. I'm a christian now, and I'm having a hard time with this. I don't know how to process it." Shade looked ashamed. "I've always been careful because I'm so big. I know I could easily kill someone if I lost my temper, so I have a tendancy to not let things get to me. But this." Shade looked out the window, his face darkening in his anger. "This..."
Kristen shifted uncomfortablely on the bed. Shade was so angry she could actually see the veins in his forehead bulging. His face was red, and his breathing ragged. His hands were clenching and unclenching. She was unsure what to do. She didn't think that Shade would ever hurt her, but the man was frightning in his rage.
Suddenly Shade dropped his head and his chest heaved in a sob. "Please Lord, help me."

Shade dropped to his knees beside the bed. "Please Lord. Please help me"
Kristen was stunned. She had no idea what to do. She pushed at Grumpy who was standing on the bed his head tilted whimpering. "Go get Maddie boy."
The dog jumped off the bed and raced out of the room.
Kristen reached out a hand towards Shade. "Shade." she whispered. Her throat tightened and she couldn't say anything else.
Shade dropped his head on the side of the bed and the force of his sobs shook the bed.
Kristen looked up and saw Matt standing in the doorway. He walked over to his dad and dropped to his knees beside him. He gathered his father into his arms as Maddie, followed by Tori, Nathan, Zoe and Trevor joined him. They all lay their hands on Shade and began to pray.
"Father, please help our brother. We have all been through alot today, and we all need Your comfort now. We especially ask for Your hand of peace to settle on our brother Shade. We know that if we look to You, You will ease our minds, and give us peace. Thank you Father that You hear our prayer, and we are grateful for Your presence in our lives. Father we ask that You would be with Kristen most of all. She has endured horrors that we cannot even begin to comprehend. We ask that You gather her into Your arms and heal her wounds, both mental and physical. We ask that You enter her heart and make her Your child. We lift her up to Your throne of grace and with humble pleas ask You to claim her for Your kingdom. Only You can make her whole again. Only You can make her a new creation. We ask all this in Jesus name. Amen" Trevor finished the prayer and dropped to his knees continuing to pray silently.

Earl threw the last of his bags in the trunk of his car and jumped at the sound of a car pulling in his driveway. He peeked out the garage window and heaved a sigh of relief to see his friend Antony. He had been expecting to see Shade Copper coming to kill him. With weak knees he walked out of the garage and called out to Antony. Antony turned to see Earl and grinned.
"How's it goin buddy?" he asked
"Out of town." Earl told him.
"Out of town? Why? We got the whole town to ourselves now. Don't need to play nice guys anymore. I was thinking we could make a trip to Amarillo and pick us up some young things and bring em back here for a party." Antony told his friend.
"I'm getting out of town. Shade Cooper knows." Earl said.
"What do you mean, he knows?" Antony looked confused.
"About the girls." Earl said. He looked around expecting to see Shade come driving up at any moment. "I gotta get out of town now."
"How could he know?" Antony asked. He grabbed Earl by the shirt and shoved him up against the side of the garage. "You didn't tell him did you?"
"No!!" Earl tried to squirm out of Antony's hold. "Runt was there. She must have told!!"
"Runt! What's she doing out at Mason's?"
"I don't know. I went out there to see if Gabe and Steffi were still around. You know Gabe was investigating Mikey, and I wanted to make sure Mikey hadn't ratted us out. Shade and his wife said Gabe and his wife went missing with all those other people, so I thought it was safe. Shade and his wife and kid are still here, and they had company. They invited me to stay for dinner and I figured we were in the clear, but then some guy came in and started beating the tar out of me, then I was looking down the barrel of a shotgun. Then I saw Runt. She must have said something, because then everybody there was looking like they wanted to kill me. I barely got out of there with my life."
"Runt's out at Mason's huh?" Antony said with a gleam in his eye.
"You go near that girl and Shade will kill you." Earl warned him.
Antony shoved Earl away. "Twenty to one, he don't know about me. Runt saw you. Everything was hunky dory until she saw you, right? If she don't see me she can't rat me out. I think I'll just mosey out to Mason's tonight and get Runt back for us. They won't be expecting someone to take the girl." Antony's eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Shade will kill you." Earl warned him again. He opened the garage door, and walked to his car.
"You chicken. Go ahead, leave town. That just means I have Runt all to myself." Antony told Earl.
"That girl isn't worth dying for." Earl said as he started his car and pointedly looked at Antony's car.
Antony shrugged and went to his car, started it and backed out of Earls driveway. He watched his friend drive away and began driving to his house. He had to come up with a plan.

Two men sat on the rooftop of the compound and one sat in the barn. Evening was descending upon them as they watched the sky. The lightning coming out of the east seemed to be getting closer to them. With a brightness they had never seen before, they watched as the light began to descend down on the compound. They watched with amazement and joy as angels appeared to them and encircled the perimeter of the fence surrounding the compound. One angel looked up at the two men on the roof of the compound. "The Lord has declared this place to be a place of peace and safety for His people. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Your enemy will not find you. You may come down and tell the people to fear not, for the Lord has sent us to surround you with His devine protection." The three men scrambled to reach the ground. With excitement they rushed into the compound in search of Brother Aaron to tell him what the Lord had done.
The mood at the compound had changed drastically over the past few days. The Lord Himself had given them the blessing of being able to see the protection that had surrounded them. Everyone seemed to have an urgency to be about the Fathers business. Brother Aaron had Lisa create a form that would give them information on all residents of the compound. It included all schooling and education obtained prior to the rapture and all past employment. This would help to know the talents and leadership skills for continued training at the compound.
From the guidance of the Lord Himself the Compound was now taking on new meaning and Brother Aaron now knew what that was. He had been given a vision and he could see it clearly. The compound would see many people come and go. The people would be trained up and sent out. While many will leave, more will come to replace them. In his vision, he could see the angels only allowing the true followers to enter. Anyone else passing by would see nothing. The training would give them everything they would need to survive if the Lord chose. Both physical and spiritual training.

After several minutes Shades sobs began to subside. He could feel the presence of his family, but what comforted him most was he could feel the presence of the Lord. "You are amazing Lord. Simply amazing." Shade whispered. He felt peacful and most importantly the rage that had consumed him had ebbed away. He felt tired, but restored.
Shade looked up and saw his family, each of them in prayer. His son Matt had his face pressed to the floor and His wife Maddie was leaned against the side of Kristens bed with her face pointed heavenward. Zoe, Trevor, and Tori were sprawled on the floor arms thrown wide, smiles on their faces. Nathan looking out the window his face highlighted by the sunset. His eyes were closed and he softly whispered praise to Jesus. "I love You Jesus. Thank You Jesus. Your mercy knows no end. Thank You Jesus." Shade heard him whisper.
Shade looked at Kristen and saw her eyes were filled with confusion and tears. She gently reached out and wiped the remaining tears from Shade's cheeks. "Are you ok?" she asked softly.
Shade nodded. "I'm sorry I scared you. Please forgive me." he whispered back.
"It's ok. I know you didn't mean to scare me. You were angry at Earl and Mikey."
Shade let took a deep breath and let it out slowly. His hand went to his cheek where Kristen had gently brushed away his tears. His heart swelled with love for the girl. It was the first time she had reached out to him, and he knew that it must have taken great courage for her to do it.
"Kristen, I love you like a daughter. I would die to protect you from being hurt again." Shade told her.
"So would we all." Trevor added.
Everyone nodded. "You're my little sister from now on." Matt said.
"Ours too." Nathan and Tori added.
Zoe nodded. "You're my sister too."
Kristen felt tears welling. These people truely loved her. She was amazed. They knew what had happened to her, and they loved her anyway.
"Shade." Kristen said.
"Yes?" Shade looked at her.
"Mikey's friends are Earl, Louis, Leon and Antony."
Shade nodded. He looked at everyone. "None of these men are allowed on this ranch."

Brother Aaron sat at his desk going over the training classes. First class of the day was at 5am in the main hall. Everyone was to attend. Breakfast would be served but not only the physical feeding would take place but also the spiritual feeding. This was Brother Aarons class and he would share it every morning with Rabbi Abraham via internet feed from Isreal. He knew the people would be excited about this because everyone missed the Rabbi. Also new people coming in would have a chance to meet the Rabbi through the internet besides reading his webpage tribsurvivors.com which he updated daily to keep all followers informed. Brother Aaron would have 2 classes a day, one at 5am with the Rabbi, and one at 7pm to spiritually feed and then time for praise and worship and thanksgiving for their day.
The other training classes would be learning to shoot at the shooting range, learning bow and arrow at the archery range, sniper classes, cooking classes which Brother Aaron thought everybody out to know how to cook, Bible classes, computer classes, survival classes, tracking classes. Then there were a few misc. classes if need such as Learning how to pray classes, learning how to clean up after yourself classes. Brother Aaron thought that one was funny, but someone had thought it important enough to put on the list. In the next few days he would be going over the forms that had been turned in to try and find the leadership he would need to help in all these classes. He would need to pray for Gods guidance on this because the ones that were chosen would remain at the compound and never be sent out. They would become part of the Leadership at the compound to train and minister to all.

Antony was frustrated. Louis was in prison, having been busted on drug trafficing charges that had left him with Leon to help him pull this off. He had gone by Leon's house and found him incoherant. From the smell and look of him he had been smoking crack all day. Antony had slapped him and shoved him into a cold shower, but couldn't rouse Leon out of his stoned stupor. Antony had left feeling frustrated. With Earl having left town, there wasn't anyone else to help him. He had gone to his house grabbed his gun and grabbed a bottle of chlorophorm he kept on hand. He had then driven out to Mason Ranch. He had parked a mile down the road and walked across pasture until he was about a quarter mile from Shade's house. He settled down in the midst of a herd of cattle and focused his binoculars at the house. He didn't see any movement and and slowly inched forward. The sun had set and he had waited for lights to come on. None did. He took a chance and stood up when the moon went behind a cloud and raced toward the house. He had peeked in the window and seen nothing. He edged around to the back door and slowly opened it. He held his gun out in front of him and began searching around the house. He discovered it was empty. With a curse he realized that they must have moved up to the main house. This posed a problem. Shade's house was small and had fewer rooms. He had figured that Runt would be sleeping on a couch in the living room, but if she was at Gabe's then she could be in any of the upstairs or downstairs bedrooms. Antony trudged back to his car and drove into the pasture. He stopped when he was a half mile from the main house and got out, slamming his door and cursing.
"Earl could have told me that they were at the main house." he grumbled. "Now, I gotta rethink my plan." With his mind spinning possible ways into the house he saw the lights of the house. He settled down again and decided that he would wait for a couple of hours after the lights went out to enter the house. He held his binoculars up and began looking at all the windows, trying to figure out which ones were bedrooms and which would be the most likely for Kristen to be in. He could see people moving around in the living room and saw a shadow that could only be Shade. He debated on what to do. He hated not having any backup, but as he saw it had no choice. He figured once Shade discovered Runt missing, he would automatically assume Earl had stolen the girl.
Antony laughed softly. He shifted and heard something moving around in the dark to his left. He turned and looked and saw the shadows of cattle in the distance. Figuring that one had wandered toward him, he turned his attention back to the house. A light went off upstairs, and Antony scooted forward in the grass and again heard something rustle in the dark behind him. He shot a quick glance and saw nothing. The clouds had covered the moon and stars so they gave off no light. It was a perfect night for an abduction he thought to himself. Even the clouds were cooperating. He smiled to himself. Under the cover of darkness, he moved closer to the house. When he was about two hundred yards from the house he stopped again, and raised his binoculars. He saw that another light had come on upstairs. He settled down to wait and had been watching the house for about half an hour when he felt breath on the back of his neck.
"Shoo, you stupid cow." he whispered furiously. He rolled half way over and the moon chose that moment to shine through the clouds.
Antony froze. The bear slapped him with a mighty paw, and he went flying. Antony landed with a groan of pain and frantically grabbed for his gun. He raised it as the bear again slapped him. Antony felt the claws rack across his upper arm and shoulder. He immediately lost all feeling in his arm and dropped the gun. He curled himself into a ball, trying to play dead. He felt the bears breath in his hair as it sniffed him. He couldn't stop the whimper of fear. He felt he bears hot breath on the back of his neck and felt his teeth.
Antony drifted he wondered if the bear had left. He shifted and realized he was standing up. He looked around and couldn't see anything it was so dark. He took a breath and smelled rotted flesh. "Aggh. It smells worse that a slaughter house." he said aloud. He started to take a step forward and realized his feet were sinking into the sludge. It hit his ankles and felt like fire. He took a breath to scream, but when he inhaled it felt like he inhaled fire. He was sinking fast and was beginning to panic. He tried to call for help, but each breath he took burned. He could hear someone breathing and cried out for help. No one answered. He thought he heard someone laugh. It made his stomach clench. He began to struggle against the goo he was sinking into. It was up to his thighs now and seemed to be getting hotter. He felt hands grab his ankles and begin to pull him deeper in to the goo.
"God help me." he screamed.
There was a flash of white light and Antony saw Jesus, standing in heaven. He looked heartbroken and shook His head.
"Please!!! I"M SORRY!!!" but to no avail. It was too late.
